  • Safe Driving Practices Reward Users with Lower Premiums and Pave the Way for Safer roads

New Delhi, August 23,2023 - Citroën India has become one of the first OEMs in the country to introduce a groundbreaking Usage Based Insurance (UBI) by collaborating with ICICI Lombard General Insurance for customers buying the popular ËC3. This novel initiative empowers customers to embrace safe driving practices and rewards them with potential savings on insurance premiums. By adopting this innovative policy, Citroën demonstrates its commitment to fostering road safety in India. UBI is connected with the vehicle usage as well as the driving behavior of the driver over the insurance term and the renewal premium is calculated basis of the driving scores as per the evaluation of the same by the insurance company. Subject to customer consent, the vehicle/driving dynamics data is collected in real-time and used for scoring purposes to determine the Premium by the Insurance Company. UBI can be opted in either at the time of purchase of the vehicle at the Citroën dealership and also later through the ‘Citroën My Connect App’. Initially, UBI will be offered on ËC3 and will be offered in the upcoming connected cars as well.

Some key benefits of UBI are as below:

  • Drivers with high scores will be able to save on insurance renewal premiums
  • Encourage safe driving which will collectively reduce road accidents and promote road safety
  • Customers will have access to driving scores periodically and will get tips to improve their driving behaviours
  • For growing families and drivers looking for value, powerful presence and smooth, agile on-road performance, the All-New C3 Aircross combines versatility of Citroën’s distinctive flair and unique approach to SUV design, resulting in a vehicle that is tough on the outside and caring on the inside.

Talking about the partnership Saurabh Vatsa, Brand Head, Citroën India said, “At Citroën, the safety of road users and our customers is of prime importance to us. We are delighted to partner with the biggest private sector insurance company ICICI Lombard, encouraging our customers to drive safely and in turn, an exciting opportunity to save on insurance premiums. The Usage Based Insurance program revolutionises the way insurance is perceived, placing the power of premiums into the hands of responsible drivers. This unique policy, a first of its kind in India, showcases our commitment to innovative solutions that empower our customers."

Commenting on the partnership Sanjeev Mantri, Executive Director, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, said, "We at ICICI Lombard believe in consistently leveraging technology to craft innovative, customer-centric solutions. Our alliance with Citroën India is symbiotic with our shared vision of driving cutting-edge innovations such as our telematics products, Pay As You Drive and Pay How You Use. The introduction of the ground-breaking Usage Based Insurance (UBI) model not only disrupts traditional insurance paradigms but also empowers and rewards our customers with lower premiums for good driving behaviour.
